Concordia’s Sustainability Coordinator initiated the effort to develop an institution-wide sustainability management plan. SSG members, working in different capacities at the time (including for SSG, as students of the University, and as Concordia’s Sustainability Coordinator), were involved at various stages throughout this project. SSG members completed the Sustainability Management Plan and the university is now moving towards its integrated vision of creating a sustainability-literate community and preparing Concordia graduates to become exceptional global citizens who promote the values of a civil and sustainable society.

We worked closely with the university’s strategic planning process to identify strategic opportunities to take action. 29 strategic goals, accompanied by concrete targets and enabling strategies, were developed with the input and feedback from 75 key stakeholders and public consultations. Despite delays due to a prolonged change in the University’s leadership and the challenges of compartmentalization, the project stayed on track and has defined Concordia as a leader in Sustainability Management.
