Environmental Toolkit for Co-operatives

Environmental Toolkit for Co-operatives

Client: Canadian Co-operative Association

Timeline: January – May 2010

The Project

SSG created a toolkit guide to provide a roadmap and toolbox to help co-operatives reduce their overall environmental impact. This was the second part of an environmental sustainability toolkit guide, providing an environmental sustainability operational framework for co-operatives to deploy to improve their overall environmental performance, continuing to lead by example.

The guide consists of eleven sections including:

  • Management Systems
  • Buildings
  • Energy and Climate Change
  • Materials and Waste Management
  • Purchasing
  • Food
  • Transportation
  • Water
  • Air Quality
  • Marketing
  • Organizations and Networks

Our Role

  • SSG created the on-line toolkit that is now currently available on the Canadian Co-operative Association website:

Our Approach

  • Our research examines the costs and benefits of different strategies, the resources required to implement these strategies, potential challenges, best practices, as well as examines a wide range of case studies of organizations that have attempted different strategies.

Sustainability Solutions.
