The Project

SSG developed a green house gas baseline and conducted GIS analysis for Lasqueti Island, one of the smaller Gulf Islands in British Columbia.  This analysis was then used as the basis for a course on GHGProof in which Islands Trust planners entered data into the GHGProof program and developed GHG reductions scenarios in order to achieve the requirements of Bill 27, the Green Communities Act of 2008.

Our Approach

In accomplishing this project, approximately twenty planners were trained in the use of the GHGProof software in a single day, providing them with a tool to evaluate community plans on an ongoing basis.
