The Project

Facing a growing demand for green buildings in the Vancouver area, the Greater Vancouver Regional District initiated an effort to provide local contractors with information about the LEED building process.

An SSG member, working with BuildGreen Consulting Inc., developed a LEED Guide for Contractors. The guide was further developed into workshops and training courses.

Our Role

• Applying our practical experience as a LEED project manager to develop resources and tools for use by contractors working on LEED certification projects.

• Researching and designing guide contents.

Our Approach

We participated in a collaborative and cross disciplinary process that brought a mechanical consultant, LEED project manager (SSG), and construction manager together to share information, discuss strategies, and develop tools that would streamline and clarify the roles and responsibilities of contractors working on LEED projects. We developed a comprehensive set of focused, relevant outcomes that have been published and widely used by the GVRD.
