Description

Union of Nova Scotia Municipalities is seeking to create a clearinghouse of sustainability initiatives in Nova Scotia that can be shared among all municipal units. The project will involve:

• Surveying all 55 municipalities on their sustainability initiatives, projects, policies, procedures and public awareness initiatives;
• Preparing a report that highlights trends, best practices, barrier and opportunities; and
• Building and populating a database that is user-friendly, is easily search-able and can be categorized by key areas and municipality. Other features of the database will include the ability to upload files and provide links.

SSG developed a set of indicators that UNSM can use to track progress towards sustainability at the municipal level.
