We believe in developments that put human health, community building, education and learning, resource efficiency and responsible community economic development principles at their cores. These passions inform our highly integrated, holistic approach to helping our clients and the communities we work with achieve valuable, meaningful and sustainable human habitats.

SSG pioneered the Integrated Design Process in our LEED projects. Right from the very start of each project, all design and construction team members are active players in identifying sustainable opportunities and strategies. SSG acts as a LEED coach to the team, ensuring all members know their responsibilities in delivering an uncompromising, highly sustainable project.

SSG members have contributed to more that 40 different LEED projects in Canada, the US and Mexico. We pioneered LEED in Canada by spearheading the visioning and certification work for the first LEED building in the country. Since then, we have led the certification on 5 LEED Platinum-level projects and numerous other developments. SSG has developed key LEED courses and tools including the LEED for Homes rating system, the LEED Guide for Contractors, and the Public Sector Council. We participated in the development of the LEED NC rating system in Canada and the Multi-Unit Residential Building LEED standard. We serve as faculty members for the Integrated Design and LEED for Existing Buildings, Operations and Maintenance courses offered by the CaGBC. We have done green and sustainable buildings policy research for the BC and Federal governments.
